Nature
Living things are one of the most beautiful and recognisable things to utilise in patterns. From aquatic life, to farm animals and birdlife, Nature provides endless inspiration. My Sea Creatures pattern was one of the first I created and is still one of my favourites.
Florals
As a keen gardener and former landscape architect, I’m continually influenced by the surrounding vegetation. The organic form, seasonal change and sheer elegance of plants make them my best-loved design elements.
My preferred painting techniques: watercolours and pen and ink allow me to capture the beauty of the plants; these two mediums help me convey the colours, details, textures and shapes of flowers, leaves and all botanical forms.
Textures
Textures don’t always need to be in the background and often their boldness makes them stand out enough. Whilst some are simple yet effective, others are far more complex, like my Galaxy pattern, which started out as a watercolour commission for a little girl’s bedroom.
